Why do I need another termite treatment, if it has been treated before and I have been paying my renewals all these years? First, let’s talk about termite chemicals. Prior to 1985 everyone in the industry used a product called Chlordane to treat for termites, it had a residue of 30 to 40 years. The EPA removed it from the market in 1985, claiming it was reaching the water table and could be potentially dangerous for the general public. From 1985 to about 1999 we did not have good termite chemicals available to us that worked to the level of Chlordane. In fact, it turned our industry upside down. Most Pest Control Companies prior to 1985 offered a repair guarantee, because we had a great chemical in Chlordane. At about the same time frame; late 70’s early 80’s we discovered the FORMOSAN termites. These two things coupled together changed the way Pest Control Companies handled Termite Treatments and their Guarantees. It wasn’t until 2000, after the advent of non-repellant chemicals that we were finally getting control of termites again. As with all chemicals on the market today, they are designed to break down over a period of time. The best termite chemicals on the market today have been tested to last 10 plus years. It was during this 15 year period (1985 to 2000), that almost all Pest Control Companies went to a five year re-treatment program. Most of the Pest Control Companies call them “Booster Treatments”. The Louisiana Department of Agriculture does not like this terminology, because some companies try to only re-treat the soil areas around the house which does not give the customer a complete treatment of the home. We at BLUE STAR PEST CONTROL, since 2003 have been using termite chemicals that are listed to last ten years or more like TERMIDOR. Because of using these chemicals we have decided not to conduct re-treatments every five (5) years, but rather every ten (10) years. We know that the chemicals around your home are breaking down due to the exposure to the elements such as UV sun rays. OPTIONS WE OFFER: - We recommend having the properties that have been treated with the 10 years plus termite chemicals be retreated every ten years against termites. We offer our loyal customers 40% off the treatment price to cover our labor and materials. We retreat the property completely, as if it had never been treated before. This insures that we have a new chemical barrier in place to protect your home for the next ten years.
- If you decide not to have your home re-treated, but still want to continue with your current termite contract. We will honor that request with the understanding that your home will be more vulnerable to termite infestations due to the chemical breakdown process and that your annual renewal will increase by $100.00.
